About
- The Pashu Aushadhi initiative is a new government programme aimed at providing affordable veterinary medicines in India. This initiative is designed to support those involved in animal husbandry and dairying. It follows the successful model of the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Kendras (PMBJK), which supply affordable generic medicines for human health.
- Pashu Aushadhi is part of the revised Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LHDCP). Approved by the Union Cabinet, this programme has an outlay of Rs 3,880 crore for 2024-25 and 2025-26. A portion of this budget, Rs 75 crore, is allocated specifically for the Pashu Aushadhi initiative.
